XM account rebate eligibility is not the same check as “which account can I open.” First confirm the legal entity on the client agreement and whether that entity’s live pricing table even lists the account you have in mind. Then read spreads and commissions from that table, not from a rebate card. Rebate rules sit one layer later: partner attribution, valid volume, and payout terms. For readers in India, the FEMA/RBI screen comes before any of those cost questions.
India: run the permission check before you compare costs
The Reserve Bank of India states that resident persons may undertake forex transactions only with authorised persons and for permitted purposes under FEMA. Electronic forex trades should go through RBI-authorised electronic trading platforms or recognised Indian exchanges. Residents using unauthorised platforms can face action under FEMA. RBI also states that Liberalised Remittance Scheme transfers cannot be used to send margin or margin calls to an overseas exchange or counterparty, and LRS FAQs list remittance for trading in foreign exchange abroad as not allowed.
RBI publishes an Alert List of names that are neither authorised to deal in forex under FEMA nor authorised to operate a forex ETP. The list updated on 19 November 2025 includes XM and xm.com. RBI says the list is not exhaustive, and absence from it does not mean authorisation. Confirm status from the authorised-person and authorised-ETP lists linked in the RBI forex-transaction FAQs. Complaints about unauthorised ETPs can go to the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.

This site is an independent information hub. Account, withdrawal, and complaint issues go through the channel named in the contract, not through an education page. A longer regulation walkthrough is on Is XM regulated in India.
Start with the company on the agreement, not the brand name
XM is a brand. Spreads, commissions, leverage, bonuses, and which account types appear can change with the legal entity that onboards you. Write down the full company name, register number, and the document pack shown during registration. Then open that entity’s current account and costs pages. A marketing domain is not a licence, and MT4 or MT5 is only software.
The XM profile card on this site is a screening sheet. Deposit, leverage, and licence lines on that card are not worldwide facts. Recheck them against the live backend for the entity on your agreement.
How to read XM account types without copying a review table
XM’s public account-types page currently presents Standard and Ultra Low accounts with a displayed minimum deposit of $5 (or the equivalent in the deposit currency) and a Shares account with a displayed minimum of $10,000. The same page states that accounts include negative-balance protection, hedging, and an Islamic option as standard. Some country views also describe a Zero account with a fixed commission and spreads that can print as low as zero. If your registration flow does not show Zero, do not import a third-party “EU-only” table as your condition set.

What to record from the live offer, not from memory:
Account name exactly as shown (Standard, Ultra Low, Zero, Shares, or a micro variant).
Contract size and minimum lot — micro and standard lots are not interchangeable in cost or rebate math.
Whether pricing is spread-only or spread plus commission.
Whether a bonus or Islamic setting is attached; both can change which trades a rebate program later accepts.
Platform listed for that account. Shares, for example, is described on the official page as a stock-market account, not a forex-spread product.
Spreads and commissions: use the live table, then compute all-in cost
XM’s Cyprus costs document defines spread as the difference between buy and sell prices and states that XM uses variable spreads. Spreads can widen around news, political events, the close of the business day, or weekends when liquidity is thinner. That document’s worked example uses 1.6 pips on a standard lot as an illustration for that entity, equal to USD 16 in the example arithmetic. Treat it as a method, not as today’s quote for every pair or every company in the group.
The same Cyprus PDF says a commission is charged on XM Zero accounts when a position is opened and closed, automatically from traded volume, and gives USD 7 for a USD 100,000 transaction. Other account types in that paper are described as spread-based. If your entity does not offer Zero, that commission line does not apply. Check the pair list and trading hours on XM’s forex page and inside the members area after login.

All-in trading cost is spread + commission + swap/rollover + conversion and payment charges − any rebate that is actually paid. A tighter headline spread can still lose if swap or conversion is worse, or if the rebate never credits. Use the forex rebate calculator only after you have a verified rate and lot definition. Position sizing stays separate: the position-size calculator does not decide eligibility.
How XM account rebate eligibility is decided after the account exists
Opening a Standard or Ultra Low account does not, by itself, prove XM account rebate eligibility. Rebate programs usually need a recorded partner link, an account type the program accepts, and volume that survives the provider’s filters. Partner commission and trader cashback are not the same number.
XM’s published affiliation agreement is a partner document. It defines a forex standard round lot as 100,000 units of base currency (1,000 units on micro / Ultra Low micro accounts) and says lots must stay open at least five minutes to count toward affiliate commission. It also excludes “close by” / “multiple close by” functions from that commission count. Those clauses explain why a rebate report can ignore volume that still appears in the terminal. They are not a published cashback tariff for this website, and they can differ from a third-party rebate schedule.
A practical eligibility file looks like this:
Partner or IB code shown on the account, with the date it was attached.
Account type and entity that match the rebate table you were shown.
Instruments included and excluded.
Lot unit (standard vs micro) and whether the program uses side or round turn.
Minimum duration, hedging, bonus-credit, and cancelled-trade rules.
Payout minimum, method, currency, and fees.
If the table says “90% rebate,” ask 90% of what value, after which validation, paid how. How rebates move from broker to partner to trader is covered in XM cashback India and what forex cashback is. Per-lot arithmetic is in rebate per lot and net cost. Do not treat a rebate as a deposit bonus; that split is in XM rebate vs deposit bonus. Missing payments are a ticket-matching job, described in XM cashback not received.
This site’s editorial role is on the about page. Other broker cards sit on the broker list. Forex and CFDs can lose money quickly when leveraged. This article is general information, not investment, legal, or tax advice, and it does not say any reader in India can or should open an offshore account.
Frequently asked questions
What does XM account rebate eligibility actually mean?
It means the account is linked to a rebate program and the trades meet that program’s written filters. It is not granted merely because an XM account exists or because a spread looks tight on a brochure.
Which XM account types should I look up first?
Start with the names on XM’s live account-types page and on your registration screen: Standard, Ultra Low, Shares, and any Zero or micro variant your entity actually offers. Do not paste a reviewer’s full matrix onto an entity that never showed those rows.
Are XM spreads fixed?
The Cyprus costs document describes variable spreads that can widen in thin or volatile conditions. Use the live instrument table for the entity on your contract. A “from” pip figure is a floor in marketing language, not a guaranteed fill.
Do all XM accounts pay commission?
In the Cyprus costs paper, commission is described for XM Zero when opening and closing, with an example of USD 7 per USD 100,000. Spread-only accounts in that paper do not use that line. Confirm on your entity’s current table.
Does a $5 minimum deposit apply to every XM client?
The public account-types page shows $5 for Standard and Ultra Low and $10,000 for Shares, with a note that non-USD deposits use the equivalent. The figure can change by entity and date. Read the page shown in your application.
Why can rebate volume be lower than platform volume?
Partner documents may ignore short-duration lots and certain close-by closes. Rebate providers add their own instrument, bonus-credit, and minimum-lot filters. Match ticket IDs to the rule that applied on that date.
Can I use LRS to fund an overseas XM account from India?
RBI’s LRS FAQ says remittances for margins or margin calls to overseas exchanges or counterparties are not allowed, and remittance for trading in foreign exchange abroad is listed as not permitted. This article does not describe workarounds.
Does the RBI Alert List mean XM is authorised or banned as a legal conclusion for every person?
The Alert List names parties RBI says are not authorised persons or authorised forex ETPs; XM and xm.com appear on the 19 November 2025 update. RBI also says the list is not exhaustive and that authorisation is checked on the official authorised lists. Read the FAQ and take advice on your own facts.
Is a tighter Ultra Low spread always cheaper after rebate?
No. Compare all-in cost on the same pair and session: spread, commission if any, swap, conversion, and rebate actually received. A higher rebate on a wider account can still leave a higher net cost.
Do Islamic or bonus settings change rebate eligibility?
They can. Swap-free terms change overnight cost. Bonus credit is a common exclusion in rebate rules. Read both the account setting and the rebate schedule before assuming volume will pay.
Where should I look up current XM spreads?
Use the forex conditions page and the members-area table for the entity on your contract. Third-party monthly “average spread” posts are not the contract. Trading hours for each pair are shown after login, according to XM’s forex page.
Can this website confirm that my account qualifies for cashback?
No. An information site can list the documents to compare. Qualification and payout follow the rebate provider’s terms and the broker contract. Keep the dated table, account number, and ticket IDs if you raise a query.
