On XM, 1.00 lot is not a universal cash amount. It is a contract size that changes with the account you actually hold. On Standard, Ultra Low Standard and Zero-style forex books, XM Group documents define a round lot as 100,000 units of the base currency. On Micro and Ultra Low Micro books, the same “1.00 lot” label is 1,000 units. Gold and silver use ounce contracts, not 100,000 euros. An XM lot size calculator only helps after you pick the matching account type.

XM Forex Cashback India is an independent research and tools site, not XM’s official domain. Lot size, margin and withdrawals follow the company named on the client agreement. For Indian residents, this page explains the contract maths. It is not a permission to open or fund an overseas margin account; that check sits on how Indian residents should verify a platform before using XM.

What is 1 standard lot in XM?

If the account is a Standard-size forex book, 1.00 lot is 100,000 units of the first currency in the pair. EURUSD 1.00 lot is 100,000 euros; GBPUSD 1.00 lot is 100,000 pounds. XM’s Affiliation Agreement uses that 100,000-unit figure for a “standard” round lot and for XM Zero / Ultra Low standard round lots. The same file sets a Micro / Ultra Low micro round lot at 1,000 units.

A CySEC client agreement for Trading Point of Financial Instruments Ltd defines a pip on EUR/USD as $10 for standard lots and $0.10 for micro lots. Treat that as the entity’s glossary, not a worldwide quote. Recheck the PDF that belongs to your contract company.

The order execution policy sets a typical minimum order of 0.01 lots and says the cash value of a lot differs by instrument. Spreads-and-conditions pages and the symbol Specification in MT4/MT5 override a memory of “one lot is always $10 a pip”.

Account type changes what “1 lot” means

Book (as XM Group docs name it)1.00 forex lotGold / silver round lot in the same definition
Standard; Zero / Ultra Low standard100,000 units of the base currency100 oz gold; 5,000 oz silver
Micro; Ultra Low micro1,000 units of the base currency1 oz gold; 50 oz silver

That is why two people can both type “1.00” and take a hundred-times different exposure. XM’s public account-types page lists Standard, Ultra Low and Shares plans; the contract size still has to be confirmed on the live specification, because names and availability move by entity.

Do not copy a rebate card’s leverage, minimum deposit or “unlimited” wording as a global fact. Those fields change with the contracting company and client class. How to read XM account types against the entity is in XM account types, spreads, commissions and rebate eligibility.

XM lot size calculator: fields that actually change the result

XM lot size calculator fields: account type and volume in lots.

XM’s official tool is the All-in-One calculator. It asks for account base currency, the pair, leverage used for the margin line, account type, and volume in lots. It then returns pip value, required margin and swap estimates. The page itself says the outputs are for planning; restricted-region notes on XM Global sites are a separate eligibility question.

  1. Set the same base currency as the live account, not INR unless the account is actually INR-denominated.

  2. Pick the pair you will trade. Gold is not EURUSD; the contract is in ounces.

  3. Choose the account type that matches the book (Standard vs Micro). A wrong type feeds the wrong contract size into pip value and margin.

  4. Enter volume in lots (for example 0.10, not “10,000 units”).

  5. Copy the pip-value result, then open Market Watch → Specification and confirm Contract size.

This site’s position size and risk calculator sizes a trade from stop distance and cash risk. It is not XM’s backend. Use it to draft a lot, then force the XM calculator and the spec to agree before you treat the number as an order ticket. Pip conversions can be cross-checked on the forex spread / pip calculator.

Pip value: the 1-lot shortcut and when it breaks

A Cyprus costs-and-charges booklet published by XM works a Standard-size EUR/USD example: 100,000 × 0.0001 × 1.6 pips = USD 16 of spread on 1.00 lot. That identity (units × pip size × pip count) is the same arithmetic an XM lot size calculator is doing. Read it as an example in XM CY costs and charges, then re-run it on your entity’s current file.

Worked numbers below are educational, not a live quote.

SetupContractAbout 1 pip on EURUSD
Standard 1.00 lot100,000 EURUSD 10
Standard 0.10 lot10,000 EURUSD 1
Micro 1.00 lot1,000 EURUSD 0.10
Micro 0.01 lot10 EURUSD 0.001

USDJPY, gold, indices and crypto CFDs do not inherit the USD 10 shortcut. Zero-account commission, when it applies, is also quoted per 100,000 of notional in that same CySEC costs file (for example USD 3.50 per side on a USD 100,000 slice). Confirm the live commission table; do not paste a rebate-card $3.50 as every entity’s current fee.

If you are reconciling cashback, the lot in the programme must match this contract size. That arithmetic is in how to calculate forex rebates per lot and net trading cost. Rebate vs bonus credit is a different question: XM rebate vs deposit bonus.

India: a calculator result is not an RBI green light

The Reserve Bank of India states that resident persons may undertake forex only with authorised persons and for permitted purposes, and that electronic trades belong on an RBI-authorised ETP or a recognised exchange. Its Foreign Exchange Transactions FAQ also says Liberalised Remittance Scheme funds cannot be used as margin or margin calls to an overseas exchange or overseas counterparty for online forex trading. Knowing that 1 Standard lot is 100,000 units does not change those rules.

Do not treat this article, a Hindi landing page, or a cashback estimate as a workaround. If you need the India-layer sequence (authorised-person list, ETP list, Alert List), use the verification article linked above. This page stops at contract size.

Reconcile the ticket before you send it

xm-contract-size-spec-check.png
Contract size check: Specification shows 100000 for a Standard forex lot.
  1. Read the account type in the Members Area, not the marketing tile.

  2. Run the official XM lot size calculator with that account type and the intended volume.

  3. In MT4/MT5, open Specification → Contract size. Software is not a licence; it is only the server’s contract file.

  4. If the calculator pip value and the spec disagree, stop. You likely mixed Micro and Standard, or picked gold with a forex shortcut.

  5. Size the stop in cash with the position-size tool, then convert to lots using the confirmed contract.

More planning tools sit on the tools hub. Broker screening cards are on the broker list; they are comparison cards, not XM’s fee table. Site purpose is on About Us. Terminal installers, if you already have a permitted account elsewhere, are listed under software downloads.

FAQ

What is 1 standard lot in XM?

On Standard-size forex accounts, 1.00 lot is 100,000 units of the base currency. On Micro accounts, 1.00 lot is 1,000 units. Confirm Contract size in the symbol Specification; the label “1 lot” is not self-explanatory.

How do I use an XM lot size calculator?

Open XM’s All-in-One calculator. Set account currency, pair, leverage for the margin line, account type, and volume in lots. Read pip value and required margin, then match Contract size on the server. A third-party position-size tool is only a draft.

Is 0.01 lot on Standard the same as 1.00 lot on Micro?

In units, both are 1,000 of the base currency on the definitions above. Pip value, swap, commission tables and rebate eligibility can still differ by account. Do not assume the cash cost is identical.

What is the smallest XM lot I can send?

The order execution policy commonly cites 0.01 lots as the minimum order size, with the lot’s value depending on the instrument. Some Micro/MT5 combinations in third-party summaries quote a larger floor. Trust the order ticket on your server, not a blog table.

How many dollars is 1 pip on 1 XM Standard lot of EURUSD?

About USD 10 when the contract is 100,000 and the pip is 0.0001, which is the figure used in XM’s CySEC client-agreement glossary and in its costs example. Account currency conversion and live quotes can move the displayed cash amount.

Does gold use the same 100,000-unit lot?

No. XM’s round-lot definition for precious metals is 100 oz of gold and 5,000 oz of silver on Standard-size books, and 1 oz / 50 oz on Micro-size books. Always open GOLD or SILVER Specification instead of copying EURUSD.

Why does the calculator margin not match the platform?

Wrong account type, stale leverage, a different symbol, hedged margin, or a conversion rate. The calculator is a planning sheet. The Members Area leverage and the spec’s margin percentage are the live inputs.

Can I size lots in INR on the XM calculator?

Only if the trading account’s base currency is INR. If the account is USD, run the calculator in USD, then convert the cash risk with your own FX rate. Mixing INR balance with a USD contract without conversion understates or overstates the lot.

Does a larger lot earn more cashback?

Eligible volume may raise a rebate, but it also raises spread, swap and loss size. Size from a risk cap, not from a cashback rate. Programme lot definitions may exclude short-duration trades; that is a rebate-document issue, not a reason to ignore the 100,000-unit spec.

Is MetaTrader lot size the same as XM lot size?

MT4/MT5 display the volume the broker’s server publishes. The terminal vendor does not set XM’s 100,000-versus-1,000 split. Two XM account types can both show “1.00” and mean different unit counts.

Does knowing the lot size mean XM is allowed for Indian residents?

No. Contract size is a specification. Indian permission is a FEMA question: authorised persons, permitted purposes, authorised ETPs or recognised exchanges. RBI also states LRS cannot fund overseas margin for online forex trading. Use the India verification article, not this calculator guide.

Where do I confirm Contract size besides the calculator?

In Market Watch, right-click the symbol → Specification → Contract size. Cross-read the current spreads-and-conditions page for that entity. If the two disagree, do not average them; ask the contract company’s support with the symbol name.

Is 1 XM Shares-account “lot” 100,000 shares?

No. Shares accounts are specified in shares, not forex lots. Do not run the forex 100,000-unit identity on an equity CFD. Open that symbol’s Specification.

Can this cashback site’s calculator replace XM’s?

No. The on-site position-size tool is a planning estimate. XM’s All-in-One calculator uses XM’s instrument list and account-type switch. Neither tool is a live order, and neither is an Indian authorisation.
