On a Standard-book EURUSD ticket in a USD account, 50 pips at 0.01 lot is about USD 5 before spread, commission and swap. On an XM Micro-book ticket, the same 50 pips at 0.01 lot is about USD 0.05. The lot label is not the cash move. The contract size behind that 0.01 is.
Generic “0.01 lot = $0.10 a pip” pages assume a 1,000-unit ticket. That matches XM Standard / Zero / Ultra Low standard at 0.01, and it also matches XM Micro at 1.00. It does not match XM Micro at 0.01, which is 10 units. An XM lot size calculator only returns a usable pip value after you pick the book that is actually on the agreement.
XM Forex Cashback India is an independent research and tools site, not XM’s official domain and not an RBI authorised person. Lot size, margin, withdrawal and complaints follow the company named on the client agreement. For Indian residents this page is contract maths. It is not permission to open or fund an overseas margin account; that check is in how Indian residents should verify a platform before using XM.

How much is 50 pips in 0.01 lot size?
Use units × pip size × pip count. For EURUSD the pip is 0.0001. Educational USD-account examples:
Standard 0.01 lot = 1,000 EUR. One pip ≈ USD 0.10. Fifty pips ≈ USD 5.
Micro 0.01 lot = 10 EUR. One pip ≈ USD 0.001. Fifty pips ≈ USD 0.05.
Standard 0.01 and Micro 1.00 are the same 1,000-unit contract, so 50 pips is the same cash move on both.
Those figures are pre-cost. The CySEC booklet’s 1.6-pip EURUSD example, scaled to Standard 0.01, is about USD 0.16 of spread at entry. Live spread is a different number. Commission, if the entity charges it, is a separate line. Swap sits on positions held past rollover. None of that is inside the “50 pips” headline.
Why 0.01 lot is not one number on XM
XM Group’s Affiliation Agreement defines a Standard / Zero / Ultra Low standard forex round lot as 100,000 units of the base currency. The same file sets a Micro / Ultra Low micro round lot at 1,000 units. Metals use ounces, not 100,000 euros: 100 oz gold and 5,000 oz silver on the Standard-size book, 1 oz gold and 50 oz silver on the Micro-size book.
The order execution policy typically allows a minimum order of 0.01 lots and states that the cash value of a lot differs by instrument. Spreads-and-conditions pages and the symbol Specification in MT4/MT5 override any memory that “one lot is always $10 a pip”.
| Book (as XM Group docs name it) | 1.00 forex lot | 0.01 forex lot | Gold / silver round lot in the same definition |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard; Zero / Ultra Low standard | 100,000 units | 1,000 units | 100 oz gold; 5,000 oz silver |
| Micro; Ultra Low micro | 1,000 units | 10 units | 1 oz gold; 50 oz silver |
Industry slang calls 1,000 units a “micro lot”. On XM that slang lands on Standard 0.01 or Micro 1.00. If you type 0.01 on a Micro book you are one hundred times smaller than that slang. Two people can both send “0.01” and take a hundred-times different 50-pip result.

XM’s public account-types page lists Standard, Ultra Low and Shares plans; contract size still has to be confirmed on the live specification, because names and availability move by entity. Do not copy a rebate card’s leverage, minimum deposit or “unlimited” wording as a global fact. Those fields change with the contracting company and client class. How to read account types against the entity is in XM account types, spreads, commissions and rebate eligibility.
How to use the XM lot size calculator for a 0.01 lot
XM’s official tool is the All-in-One calculator. It asks for account base currency, the pair, leverage used for the margin line, account type, and volume in lots. It then returns pip value, required margin and swap estimates. The page itself says the outputs are for planning. Restricted-region notes on XM Global sites are a separate eligibility question.

Set the same base currency as the live account, not INR unless the account is actually INR-denominated.
Pick the pair you will trade. Gold is not EURUSD; the contract is in ounces.
Choose Standard or Micro to match the book. A wrong type feeds the wrong contract size into pip value and margin.
Enter volume in lots (0.01), not “1,000 units” and not a rupee cash amount.
Copy the pip-value result, multiply by 50 for this query, then open Market Watch → Specification and confirm Contract size.
This site’s position size and risk calculator drafts a lot from stop distance and cash risk. It is not XM’s backend. Use it to sketch a size, then force the official calculator and the spec to agree before you treat the number as a ticket. Pip conversions can be cross-checked on the forex spread / pip calculator.
Worked 50-pip table and where the shortcut breaks
A Cyprus costs-and-charges booklet published by XM works a Standard-size EUR/USD example: 100,000 × 0.0001 × 1.6 pips = USD 16 of spread on 1.00 lot. That identity — units × pip size × pip count — is the same arithmetic an XM lot size calculator is doing. Read it as an example in XM CY costs and charges, then re-run it on your entity’s current file.
Worked numbers below are educational, not a live quote.
| Setup | Contract | About 1 pip on EURUSD | About 50 pips |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard 1.00 lot | 100,000 EUR | USD 10 | USD 500 |
| Standard 0.10 lot | 10,000 EUR | USD 1 | USD 50 |
| Standard 0.01 lot | 1,000 EUR | USD 0.10 | USD 5 |
| Micro 1.00 lot | 1,000 EUR | USD 0.10 | USD 5 |
| Micro 0.01 lot | 10 EUR | USD 0.001 | USD 0.05 |
USDJPY, gold, indices and crypto CFDs do not inherit the USD 10 / USD 0.10 shortcut. JPY pairs usually use a 0.01 pip; gold is priced per ounce; index CFDs follow the symbol’s tick size. Zero-account commission, when it applies, is quoted per 100,000 of notional in that same CySEC costs file (for example USD 3.50 per side on a USD 100,000 slice). Confirm the live commission table. Do not paste a rebate-card $3.50 as every entity’s current fee.
If you are reconciling cashback, the lot in the programme must match this contract size. That arithmetic is in how to calculate forex rebates per lot and net trading cost. Rebate versus bonus credit is a different question: XM rebate vs deposit bonus.
India: a calculator result is not an RBI green light
The Reserve Bank of India states that resident persons may undertake forex only with authorised persons and for permitted purposes, and that electronic trades belong on an RBI-authorised ETP or a recognised exchange. Its Foreign Exchange Transactions FAQ also says Liberalised Remittance Scheme funds cannot be used as margin or margin calls to an overseas exchange or overseas counterparty for online forex trading. Knowing that 50 pips at 0.01 lot is about USD 5 or USD 0.05 does not change those rules.
The RBI Alert List (updated 19 November 2025; see the press release) is a separate screening step. Do not treat this article, a Hindi landing page, or a cashback estimate as a workaround. If you need the India-layer sequence — authorised-person list, ETP list, Alert List — use the verification article linked in the opening. This page stops at contract size.
Reconcile the ticket before you send it

Read the account type in the Members Area, not the marketing tile.
Run the official XM lot size calculator with that account type and volume 0.01.
In MT4/MT5, open Specification → Contract size. Software is not a licence; it is only the server’s contract file.
If the calculator pip value and the spec disagree, stop. You likely mixed Micro and Standard, or picked gold with a forex shortcut.
Size the stop in cash with the position-size tool, then convert to lots using the confirmed contract.
More planning tools sit on the tools hub. Broker screening cards are on the broker list; they are comparison cards, not XM’s fee table. Site purpose is on About Us.
FAQ
How much is 50 pips in 0.01 lot size on EURUSD?
About USD 5 on a Standard-size 0.01 lot (1,000 units) and about USD 0.05 on an XM Micro-size 0.01 lot (10 units), before spread, commission and swap, in a USD account. Multiply units × 0.0001 × 50. Recheck the pair’s pip size; JPY and gold do not use 0.0001.
How do I use an XM lot size calculator for this 50-pip question?
Open XM’s All-in-One calculator. Set the live account base currency, the pair, the matching account type, and volume 0.01. Read pip value, then multiply by 50. Confirm Contract size on the platform Specification. The site position-size tool can draft a lot from cash risk, but it does not replace XM’s calculator or the spec file.
Is 0.01 lot on Standard the same as 1.00 lot on Micro?
On XM Group’s forex definition, yes: both are 1,000 units of the base currency. Fifty pips on either ticket is the same cash move on EURUSD in USD. Fifty pips on Micro 0.01 is not; that ticket is 10 units.
What is the smallest XM lot I can send?
The order execution policy typically sets a minimum of 0.01 lots. The cash value of that 0.01 still follows the book: 1,000 units on Standard-size forex, 10 units on Micro-size forex, and ounce contracts on metals. Some symbols or entities can set a higher minimum. Read the live Specification, not a memory of “everything starts at 0.01”.
How many dollars is 1 pip on 1 XM Standard lot of EURUSD?
About USD 10 on 100,000 EUR when the account is USD. Scale linearly: 0.10 lot ≈ USD 1; 0.01 lot ≈ USD 0.10. A CySEC costs file uses the same units × pip size identity for a spread example. Treat it as that entity’s illustration, then re-run the current PDF for your contract company.
Does gold use the same 100,000-unit lot?
No. The Affiliation Agreement defines gold and silver in ounces: 100 oz / 5,000 oz on the Standard-size book and 1 oz / 50 oz on the Micro-size book. Do not drop a gold symbol into an EURUSD pip shortcut. Run the calculator on XAUUSD, then confirm Contract size on the spec.
Why does the calculator margin not match the platform?
Usual causes: wrong account type (Standard vs Micro), leverage that is not the live cap, a different base currency, or a symbol whose contract is ounces or an index multiplier. Margin also moves with price. If pip value already disagrees with Specification, fix contract size first; margin will stay wrong until that line matches.
Can I size lots in INR on the XM calculator?
Only if the trading account is actually INR-denominated. Most XM cash accounts are USD, EUR or another listed currency. Typing INR because you think in rupees converts pip value into a currency the ticket does not use. Convert the USD (or account-currency) result afterwards if you need a rupee mental check.
Does a larger lot earn more cashback?
Partner rebates are usually quoted per eligible closed lot, so a larger confirmed contract can produce a larger cash line — and a larger loss if the trade fails. The lot in the programme must match the contract size on the ticket. Eligibility, per-side versus round-turn treatment, and payout rules sit in the partner terms, not in the pip formula.
Is MetaTrader lot size the same as XM lot size?
MetaTrader displays whatever Contract size the broker’s server sends. The platform is not a second definition. If Specification says 100000, that ticket is a Standard-size forex lot. If it says 1000, it is a Micro-size forex lot. Software is not a licence and is not proof of Indian authorisation.
Does knowing the 50-pip figure mean XM is allowed for Indian residents?
No. Contract maths and FEMA permission are different questions. Resident forex belongs with authorised persons and permitted purposes; LRS funds cannot be used as overseas margin. Use the India verification article for authorised-person, ETP and Alert List checks. This page does not open, fund or approve an account.
Where do I confirm Contract size besides the calculator?
In MT4 or MT5: Market Watch → right-click the symbol → Specification → Contract size. Cross-check the account type shown in the Members Area. If those two disagree with the calculator, stop and fix the account-type field before you send 0.01.
Is 1 XM Shares-account “lot” 100,000 shares?
Do not assume that. Shares plans are listed on XM’s account-types page, but equity CFDs use the symbol’s own contract. Read Specification for that share, not the forex 100,000-unit line. The 50-pip EURUSD shortcut does not apply to a single-share CFD.
Can this site’s calculator replace XM’s?
No. The pip, position-size and rebate tools on this site are planning sheets. They do not read your live margin, swap or entity fee table. Draft a size here, then confirm pip value on XM’s All-in-One calculator and Contract size on the platform before you treat 50 pips as a cash number.
